Julie trained at the Sylvia Young Theatre School. At the age of eleven, she won the role of Young Eponine in the West End production of Les Miserables. Other notable theatre productions include Rip Van Winkle, Roses of Eyam, Slice of Saturday Night and The Tart and the Vicars Wife both at the Theatre Royal, Lincoln; Don’t Rock The Boat at the Mill at Sonning and No. 1 National Tours of Passport to Pimlico, Bad Blood, Caught in the Net and The Ghost Train, as well as Hero in Much Ado About Nothing.

Julie has appeared in several pantos playing Peter Pan for five years, then playing Jack in Jack and the Beanstalk, Dick in Dick Whittington, Aladdin in Aladdin, Cinderella in Cinderella and in 2008/09 Jack in Jack and the Beanstalk topping her 5th year at the Cambridge Arts Theatre.  

However, Julie is best known for her roles as Natalie Stevens in Grange Hill and Julie Matthews in Hollyoaks. Other TV credits include The Bill, London’s Burning, Pie in the Sky, Expert Witness, Casualty, and Holby City. Julie also has a twin sister Clare Buckfield who has also appeared alongside Julie in Grange Hill and Holby City.

Julie is currently on her second tour of The Naked Truth alongside Lisa Riley (Emmerdale) and Trudie Goodwin (The Bill)  

Julie is the patron for the Cambridge Search and Rescue team.
